Who are the ThunderTones?
The ThunderTones started in 2001, when 13 guys got together to bring barbershop music back to Huntington. Since then, we have put on hundreds of performances across the area, bringing the barbershop style of music to audiences all across the tri-state area.
The ThunderTones is the chorus name of the Huntington Tri-State Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society. For nearly 17 years, the ThunderTones was an all men’s chorus. But in the fall of 2018, we decided to bring females into the mix. The result: a more full and balanced sound, a larger performing chorus and a lot more fun! Currently, we call ourselves a mixed gender chorus that sings a cappella music in the barbershop style – four-part harmony. Our motto: Everyone in Harmony. This means we accept as members people of all ages, all genders, all colors – anyone who just enjoys singing.
If you’d like to hear us, “like” our Facebook page, and you can keep up with our whereabouts. You can also stop by a rehearsal anytime just to listen. Think about visiting us, especially if you like to sing. We rehearse every Thursday evening at 7:00 at 836 4th Avenue in downtown Huntington. Some of the songs in our current repertoire are “Sweet Caroline,” “Hooked on a Feeling,” “Zip-a-dee-doo-dah,” “Blue Velvet,” “Can You Feel the Love Tonight?,” and many other popular tunes.
If you’d like to book us for your next gathering, you can call us at 304-302-NOTE (304-302-6683). We’re always happy to show off our stuff! Our performance fee is usually around $150-200 for a 20-30 minute performance. Our shows are always family-friendly and really great entertainment. If you would like more info, please contact us at 304-302-NOTE or leave us a Facebook message.
